Enjoy Game Drives across the park
Game drives in Murchison Falls National Park typically last 3 – 5 hours and take up most the morning hours and may stretch into the afternoon depending on; your interest, and where you are staying. Travellers staying across the Nile have got to be at the ferry crossing on time for the scheduled ferry crossings. The ferry crossings run from 7:00 am, 8:00 am, 11:00 am, 12:00noon, 2:00pm, 4:00pm, 6:00pm and the last crossing being 7:00pm.
All travellers staying on the southern bank ( Red chilli Rest camp, Murchison River lodge, Bakers Lodge, Nile Safari Lodge etc) often struggle to catch the first ferry crossing at 7:00 am. This, however, means they have got to leave their hotels/lodges by 6:00 am in order to be at the ferry landing and queued up by 6:30 am.
If successful in catching the first ferry crossing, your game drive then begin. While on it, expect to catch a glimpse of a variety of wildlife including; Oribis, Kobs, warthogs, giraffes, buffaloes, lions, leopards, waterbucks, Jackson’s hartebeest, bushbucks, duikers, mongoose, genets, hyenas, jackals, elephants among others.
Although the recent upgrade of road status in Murchison Falls National has pretty much-seen travellers risking to engage in game drives using none-4wheel vehicles, we recommend bringing or locally hiring a descent 4×4 safari vehicle with pop-up roof, and all extra safari additions that come with it. Having a good and reliable safari vehicle while on safari makes for a better game viewing experience.

They are often knowledgeable about the routes, parks and wildlife happening and can even assist in addition to safari planning.
